Our Story

A proudly family-owned estate, owners Kay and Charles Chinnaiyah planted the grove, with the help of their children, back in 1999 with a belief of creating an Olive oil that could not be matched.

The inspiration to create an olive grove took place during a relaxing Sunday drive through the Wairarapa during which the couple stumbled upon a charming piece of bare land. That feeling of serenity and peace when surrounded by olive trees inspired the first steps of their unexpected dream to take place.

Situated in the town of Featherston, Wairarapa, southeast region of New Zealand’s North Island. The grove is nestled at the foot of the rugged Tararua Ranges and it’s strikingly, picturesque view surrounds the grove.
The Olea name has been synonymous with exceptional extra virgin olive oil for the past 10 years and has been winning awards within both the olive oil and gourmet industries. With over 2100 olive trees in the 20 acre-estate, the boutique grove reflects enthusiasm and attention to detail.

Dedication in every aspect of the olive production allows the dream of Olea to take place the way is was truly intended, with passion.

From all of us here at Olea, we welcome all visitors and hope that you are able to experience that which is Olea Estate.
